Our Faith

We believe that Jesus is “the Way, the Truth and the Life”. This verse, from John’s Gospel, emphasises that Jesus is unique in human history; and it also helps us to understand that our purpose, as human beings, is to live with and for Him.

We know that the starting point of Christian faith is to know the love that God has for us; and so we place a high value on Scripture, and on encounter with God, believing that the Holy Spirit alone can transform us into the people God created us to be.

As part of the Church of England, we do not generate our doctrine for ourselves, but align ourselves with the beliefs of the world-wide church throughout history; in particular, the Anglican Communion. This includes the belief that the church exists both for its members, and for its non-members. We understand that God has called us to play our part in seeing Newark, and the world, transformed by the love of God, lived out in the lives of His people.
