Heritage Open Days: The Timber Framed Buildings of Nottinghamshire
While St Mary’s is closed for conservation works, we have been considering our place in historic Newark, and taking a closer look at the buildings that surround us. This year, we invite you to an illustrated talk by Jason Mordan of Notts County Council based on the 2005 publication of the same title. Nottinghamshire has a wealth and wide variety of oak ‘Timber-frame buildings’ including a cluster of fascinating examples in Newark. This talk will examine the tree-ring dating of many of these and explore their interesting aspects.
